The reduced leaves sizes of both seedlings were correlated with an increase in Pb 2+ levels, and activities of peroxidase and lignin deposition in it. The intensification of activities of peroxidase and phenol in the Pb 2+ treated plants were accompanied by an increase in the biosynthesis of the lignin contents as their function is of scavenging ROS radical. A strong correlation (r 2 =0.8570) was observed between Pb 2+ and lignin deposition in the Lens culinaris whereas it was non-significant in Phaseolus mungo (r 2 =0.466). Increased in the lignin contents in the Lens culinaris as a chemical adaptation of the cell walls of various leaves tissues for endurance while decrease in the lignin contents in Phaseolus mungo at high dose of Pb 2+ may be attributed with the declin...

In Pakistani population, the prevalence of CKD is unexpectedly high therefore not unexpected since incidence of hypertension and diabetes in Pakistani population is one of the highest in the world. CKD is defined as impaired glomerular filtration rate (GFR) or elevated albumin excretion in the urine, and has been recognized as an important risk factor contributing to cardiovascular disease and death. The most common risk factors for CKD includes; diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia and most important older age, but the clinical implications still remain uncertain in elderly persons suffering from CKD. The present study aims to evaluate the biochemical profile in the patients with chronic kidney disease as compared to the healthy controls. Analysis of lipid profile (Cholesterol, Total Lipid, HDL-C, LDL-C, and Triglycerides), renal profile (Urea, Creatinine, BUN and Ur...

This ensures a sufficient level of cash balances as well as other current assets, including stock (trade stock), and receivables. However, limited and/or overindulgence of current assets can cause serious threats to firms. Therefore, this study attempts to empirically test whether or not managing current assets influences the market value of firms with a sample of 59 firms from different industries listed at Karachi Stock exchange including textile, cement, chemical, sugar, fuel & energy and engineering industry. Data is gathered on quarterly basis from firms’ financial reports for the period of 8years (2008-2015). The GMM estimation technique is used to analyze the data. The analysis is conducted in 2 stages: firstly, separate industry to industry analysis is performed analyzing whether or not the association among the variables varies from industry to industry. Secondly a general estimation is performe...

There are several conventional techniques for detoxification of heavy metal. Remediation of Lead stress using the vegetables peels is an emerging environmental cleaning method. Application of metal-accumulating plants to neutralize the Lead contagion from soil is the most emergent, environmentally friendly and inexpensive technology. The main objective of this research is to determine the remediation of Lead toxicity by utilizing the biosorbent potato peels. Previous investigation showed that concentration of Lead 200 - 250 ppm was exerted adverse effect on plant growth. Results reveal that adapting this green strategy for detoxification of Lead is very significant. Growth rate in both species Phaseolus mungo and Lens culinaris under this dynamic technology considerably enthused. Present data shows that potato peels have the biosorption capability ...
