More than ever, the diagnostic approach process needs to focus on genetic and epigenetic alterations. The aim of our study was to identify and correlate the presence of COL9A1 gene variants in two types of samples from OSCC patients. Methods: Our pilot study included 32 subjects diagnosed with OSCC. Fresh tumour tissue and peripheral blood samples were used in order to identify the genotypes of the COL9A1 gene. Variables, such as age, gender and tobacco and alcohol use, were also taken into consideration. The DNA analysis of the samples was based on a tagged SNP (rs550675) for the allelic discrimination. Twenty-six compounds were identified by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis, of which 4a alpha,7alpha,7a alpha-nepetalactone (34.12%), elemol (23.23%), spiro(5,6)dodecane (13.73%), and 3,4 alpha-dihydro-4a alpha, 7 alpha, 7a alpha-nepetalactone (7.93%) were the major compounds. The NEO exhibited broad-spectrum antibacterial effects, and possesses potent antifungal activity on Candida albicans and Candida parapsilosis. Ruta graveolens L. essential oil (RGEO) was isolated by steam distillation (0.29% v/w), and the content was assessed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Findings revealed that 2-Undecanone (76.19%) and 2-Nonanone (7.83%) followed by 2-Undecanol (1.85%) and 2-Tridecanone (1.42%) are the main detected compounds of the oil. Polymer materials for denture bases, with thermal or light polymerization are relatively fragile,... more Polymer materials for denture bases, with thermal or light polymerization are relatively fragile, being considered brittle materials from the Fracture Mechanics concepts point of view. This paper presents a comparative study on determination of fracture toughness for 2 types of resins used in complete dentures technology: heat-curing resin (Meliodent), and light-curing resin (Eclipse). The tests were performed on a static loading machine, model Zwick/Roell of 5kN. The results obtained by 2 methods differ no more than 10-15%. Both methods showed that Eclipse has a better resistance to fracture than Meliodent.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the oral cancer epidemiological trend, incidence and mortality in Central and East Europe (CEE), and to compare the incidence of oral cancer with other regions from the world. The analyzed data was from NORDCAN and GLOBOCAN, using ASR (age- standardize rate) incidence and mortality overall and by sexes. The incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer is higher in CEE than the global incidence. This is in accord with specific mortality from oral and pharyngeal cancer that is higher in CEE than the regions other submitted to the current evaluation. The incidence of oral cancer is very high at man, especially in Hungary, which is the most affected from oral cancer from CEE.

They contain eugenol, tannins and flavonoids that also help to strengthen the vein wall. This paper presents the obtaining and the characterization of a polyurethane drug delivery system which can be used for the transmembrane transport of eugenol in oral therapies. The products were analyzed by pH and solubility measurements, thermal decomposition and zetasizer tests and they were applied on mice skin to evaluate their harmfulness. The results suggest that were obtained neutral pH structures with low solubility and a good thermal stability, with sizes between 241 and 289 nm and no toxicity effect was found in the case of studied samples.
