To provide engineering students the ability to act in various scenarios related to systems contro... more To provide engineering students the ability to act in various scenarios related to systems control, it is important to improve classes with practical demonstrations. Inverted pendulum systems have been used as basis for presenting various concepts related to the topic. This paper presents the development of a didactic tool for this practice that can be easily assembled by students due to its simplicity and low cost. It consists of a two parallel wheels supported robot constructed with low cost parts and materials. The robot has a simple arduino control electronics and two small engines. By activating the engines the robot can compensate its inclination stand in vertical position autonomously depending on the control algorithm embedded into its firmware. All documentation is available on a online wiki tool in order to facilitate its reproducibility.

The use of educational artifacts created from waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)... more The use of educational artifacts created from waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) was considered practicable and effective by a research conducted by Andrade (2012), in which he created and used training kits using WEEE including Inverted pendulum Kit. Through an analysis of this artifact, this work proposes the implementation of improvements in the Inverted Pendulum Kit to provide a didactic device for training of Computer Engineering students. This work presents the analysis of the Inverted Pendulum Kit and performed the implementation of the proposed improvements in hardware and software. Tests are presented with the original kit, and then the impacts that the proposed improvements accounted for using the kit definitive are shown.
