This upload contains the code used to conduct velocity-driven frictional simulations discussed in... more This upload contains the code used to conduct velocity-driven frictional simulations discussed in the manuscript "Velocity-driven frictional sliding: Coarsening and steady-state pulse trains" by Thibault Roch, Efim A. Brener, Jean-François Molinari and Eran Bouchbinder. It consists of two parts: "cracklet-paper.pulses" contains a version of cRacklet, an open-source library implementing the spectral boundary integral method for interfacial rupture simulations. "simulations" contains the sources and input files for the simulations, based on the cRacklet library.

The interaction between a thin panel and a Mach 2.25 turbulent boundary layer is investigated usi... more The interaction between a thin panel and a Mach 2.25 turbulent boundary layer is investigated using a high-accuracy, high-fidelity approach for the simulation of coupled fluid-structure problems. The solid solution is found by integrating the conservation of momentum equation using a non-linear 3D finite element solver, and the direct numerical simulation of the turbulent boundary layer uses a finite-difference compressible NavierStokes solver. The evolution of the panel response progresses from the emergence of low amplitude traveling bending waves to a larger amplitude standing wave type motion. Panel defections exceed 25 wall units into the boundary layer and produce compression waves that oscillate with the panel motion. Turbulence statistics are shown to be modified by the presence of the compliant panel. Two way coupling is shown to be important.

This paper summarizes our recent progress on the experimental and numerical study of dynamic debo... more This paper summarizes our recent progress on the experimental and numerical study of dynamic debonding and frictional push-out in composite systems. A modified split Hopkinson pressure bar system is adopted to perform dynamic fiber push-out experiments on model single fiber composite systems. A cohesive/volumetric finite element scheme is developed to capture the initiation and propagation of the crack along the fiber/matrix interface. Interface properties are extracted by comparison between experimental and numerical results. Effects of loading rate and surface roughness are presented. The results indicate that the combination of the experimental and numerical analysis constitutes a valuable tool to study the failure process in composites under high loading rates.
