The biological activity of the two ligands (benzaldehydethiosemicarbazone- BTSCH and 3,4-dimethox... more The biological activity of the two ligands (benzaldehydethiosemicarbazone- BTSCH and 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldazine- DMBA) and their zinc(II)-, cadmium(II)- and mercury(II)- complexes having the formula M2(BTSCH)2(DMBA)2X4 and M(BTSC)(DMBA)X (where BTSC=deprotonated BTSCH ligand; M = Zn 2+ , Cd 2+ , or Hg 2+ ; X = NO3 - or Cl - or I - ) in dimethylsulphoxide solution have been evaluated by agar plate diffution technique against five human pathogenic bacterial strains: Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Klebsella pneumonia, Escherichia coli and Proteus vulgaris. The ligands had no activity, whereas some of the complexes were found to have antibacterial activity on some bacteria in vitro, The effective concentration of the complexes ranging between 0.01 - 10 µg/ml. ﺔﺼﻼﺨﻟﺍ

Unlike classical Ras paralogs, ERas has a unique N-terminal extension (Nex) with as yet unknown function. In this study, we employed affinity pull-down and quantitative liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) analyses and identified 76 novel binding proteins for human and rat ERas Nex peptides, localized in different subcellular compartments and involved in various cellular processes. Two field trials were carried out at the Agricultural Production and Research Station, National R... more Two field trials were carried out at the Agricultural Production and Research Station, National Research Centre, El Nubaria Province, El Behira Governorate, Egypt, during the two successive winter seasons 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 to study the response of canola cultivar (Serw 4) to nitrogen fertilizer levels (20, 40 and 60 kg N/faddan (faddan = 4200 m)) and inoculation with Nitrobein and Azospirillum bio-fertilizers as well as 2 their combinations on canola plants. Seed inoculation with Nitrobein and Azospirillum bio-fertilizers as sole treatments showed the lowest values of the studied characters, except number of seeds/siliqua and seed oil content. Most of the studied characters increased significantly when the nitrogen levels were added in combination with the inoculants. However, the treatment Nitrobein +60 kg N/faddan showed the highest values of number of siliqua/plant, seed yield/plant, seed yield/faddan and oil yield/faddan in the combined data, with significant differences. ...

Results showed that increasing N levels from 30 to 40 kg N/faddan significantly increased number of pods/plant, weight of pods/plant, weight of seeds/ plant, 100-seed weight, pod yield/faddan, seed yield/faddan and straw yield/faddan. Use of Zn foliar application either at flowering or seed filling stages significantly increased number of pods/plant, weight of pods/plant, number of seed/ plant, weight of seeds/plant, 100-pod weight, 100-seed weight, pod, seed and straw yield/faddan, oil yield, seed protein content, N and K content in the seed and straw compared to control treatment. To determine the age and gender distribution and clinical presentation of patients together with ... more To determine the age and gender distribution and clinical presentation of patients together with histological types of colorectal cancer cases presented to Ibn Sina specialized hospital. This retrospective study was conducted in Ibn Sina Hospital (Sudan). Seventy three (73) patients of colorectal cancer who presented in the period from January 2010 to December 2012 were included. Data were collected from their hospital records and analyzed using SPSS computer program 17. More than 17 % of the study populations was below the age of 40 years, and 43.84% was below 50 years. The male to female ratio was 1:1.02. Rectal bleeding is the commonest presenting symptom and well differentiated adenocarcinoma is the dominating tumor grade. 8.3 % of patients presented with liver metastasis. Colorectal cancer in this study was found more in young age groups with a peak frequency at the fifth and sixth decades.
