Based on a 2020 literature survey, we have analyzed recommendations made by researchers and institutions from different countries around the world, with the aim of systematizing and disseminating strategies to deal with this scenario. The material is organized into two thematic areas, namely: gender policies and intersectoral actions; and strategies to face violence against women and children in the health and social work field. The recommendations are focused on the development of actions by States/governments, service networks and society in general. Part of the recommendations suggest increasing or adapting existing surveillance actions and part of them contribute with creative proposals, guiding promotio...

Method: quantitative research of the analytical and retrospective type. Data from pregnant women aged between 11 and 49 years from a database containing information from the Information System for Reporting interpersonal/self-harm from 2011 to 2018 were analyzed. The analysis involved the description of the profile of the pregnant woman and the probable author and the characteristics of the events. Results: in 2017, five times more cases of violence against pregnant women were reported compared to 2011. Violence occurred more in people aged between 20 and 29 years (37.0%), black/brown (54.4%), with incomplete primary education (34.2%) and single (48.1%). The most frequent violence was physical (61.9%), followed by psychological (31.2%) and sexual (27.0%). Body strength and beatings were the means of aggression most used by the perpetrator of violence (54.0%). The partner or ex-partner (...

Logistic models were adjusted to four outcomes: Having experienced physical, psychological, or sexual violence in the last 12 months; having experienced psychological violence in the last 12 months; having experienced physical violence in the last 12 months; having experienced sexual violence in the last 12 months. There was a prevalence of 17.36% of psychological violence, 4.15% of physical violence, and 0.76% of sexual violence. The variables zone, sex, age group, skin color/race, marital status, per capita income, health status, mental health problem, and alcohol consumption remained in the final models. These results can and should contribute to adequate proposals for prevention and promotion actions since the National Policy for the Prevention of Ac...

The search also included two other Brazilian journals, "Cadernos de Saúde Pública" (CSP) and "Revista de Saúde Pública" (RSP) and two international journals, the "American Journal of Public Health" (AJPH) and the "Pan American Journal of Public Health" (PAJPH), totaling 1,179 articles. The analysis aggregated each journal's material in eleven themes, based on conceptual affinity. For the articles from C&SC, the authors analyzed variables such as year of publication, area of knowledge, institution's region, study scope, methodology, and target population. The analysis found that C&SC gave visibility to violence and health, standing out from the other journals since 2009. External causes, children and adolescents, quantitative studies, municipal and n...

However, there is still uncertainty about the impact of physical distancing on youth’s mental health. We aimed to estimate the prevalence of feeling agitated, anxious, down, sad, or low mood (FNF) due to physical distance measures and verify which factors are associated with young Portuguese and Brazilian people. Methods: We used cross-sectional data from the instrument “COVID-19 Barometer: Social Opinion” in Portugal (March 2020 and September 2021) and from “COVID-19 Social Thermometer” in Brazil (August 2020 to April 2021); these surveys included data regarding the health and socioeconomic impact on the population. The health and sociodemographic variables of the two countries were summarized as absolute and relative frequencies. A multivariable logistic regression model was fit by country to estimate the relation betwe...
