I wish to further pursue an academic career in the field of migration and am highly motivated towards this goal. An influx of migrants to Europe in recent years has raised my interest in the fusion of German society with the different migrant groups in the near future. If given the opportunity, I would like to deal with the following two questions: first, is it possible to create a transcultural third space for both locals and migrants to come together on an equal footing and second, how can it be brought into effect. In December 2015, I graduated with an M.A. in Transcultural Studies at the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context” at Heidelberg University. The study allowed me to improve my academic experience with a transcultural perspective that is a relatively new but promising field in the arena of migration. Transcultural studies provide an opportunity to answer many questions emerging in the new global society which can prove difficulty to solve with classical methods. My master’s study gave me the opportunity to be a successful player in interdisciplinary academic areas where creative ideas are motivated. Parallel to my studies, I taught Turkish to university students at the Language Centre of Heidelberg University for a period of four semesters. I taught international students from varied backgrounds which contributed greatly to my communication and teaching skills. High level of attendance to the courses, significant success on the exam results, and the feedbacks from the students demonstrated my success and strong motivation for teaching. Since June 2016, I have been working fulltime at IOM Germany, Nuremberg. Through my current work at IOM, I have been gaining practical experience in the field of migration which I hope to combine with my future academic skills.
