Through years of Ukraine’s independence youth has been defined as a key target audience for the public policy, hence it is critically important to understand their opinions and attitudes, positions, and perceptions. As unprecedented a challenge as COVID-19 pandemics turned out to be for European solidarity and values could not but affect the attitudes to the EU and European integration in Ukraine. The article presents the results of the sociological study of everyday practices of applicants en... more The article presents the results of the sociological study of everyday practices of applicants entering Ukrainian higher education institutions from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The research was supported by Konrad Adenauer Foundation and conducted in June 2020 in Mariupol. Seventeen deep interviews with the students allowed to get the insights of their everyday life (work, study, consuming, leisure, communication, etc.) in the temporarily occupied territories, focusing on their needs, interests, fears, values, priorities, and plans for the future. The research clearly showed that people in the temporarily occupied territories live in the economic realities typical to the late Soviet era and the period of early capitalization of the economy in Ukraine of early 1990s. The tendencies towards impoverishment of the population and youth unemployment were mentioned along with primitivizing of their leisure activities and introduction of a powerful ideological component...
Through increasing cultural diversity of European countries education in general and higher educa... more Through increasing cultural diversity of European countries education in general and higher education in particular become the constructive force to promote social cohesion and integration. The European higher education policies have manifested the increasing attention towards importance of intercultural learning at all levels of education including higher education. In the research the major EU policy-related documents, initiatives, programmes and organizations responsible for education policies are analyzed through introducing of the key themes and priorities connected with development of intercultural learning. The chronological scope of the study covers the last twenty-year period due to the enormous changes occurred in the field of higher education under increasing multicultural perspective in Europe.

Knowledge of social and cultural features of the national leadership practices can predict behavior parameters and can determine attributive characteristics of leaders which are the most typical, socially relevant and effective within a particular cultural tradition. The ongoing reforms in Ukraine foresee modernization of management systems at all organizational levels, qualitative renewal of the national model of administrative culture. The reforms actualize the need of creating a new type of leaders who can exercise effective leadership in the new socio-economic and political realities in the country. The article presents a general evaluation of the higher education system under reform in Ukraine ... more The article presents a general evaluation of the higher education system under reform in Ukraine with examples of some higher education institutions in different regions, and demonstrates basic tendencies and regularities which typical of all the institutions that are undergoing similar processes of reform. The process is heavily influenced by the so-called “human factor”, by investigating the participants’ opinion. The empirical data presented in this paper demonstrate how lecturers and students understand the reform process in different ways.
