ABSTRACT The soy isoflavones are phytoestrogens with the same structure as the estrogen hormones ... more ABSTRACT The soy isoflavones are phytoestrogens with the same structure as the estrogen hormones of the animals, but with weaker activity. According to some authors, they influenced the growth and the body weight of small chicken. Because of this we conducted a study to establish the effect of isoflavones on the growth performances and the body weight of the light strain chicken, from hatching to 20 weeks of age. To get an answer to this aim, investigation has been made in a rearing farm. The feed in different periods was enriched with 40.88% isoflavone additive in the amount of 300, 600, 1200 and 1800 mg /kg feed. From the obtained results of the investigation it is concluded that soy isoflavones offered in different concentrations in the feed mixtures decreased the body weight of the pullets at all different ages during the experiment. The results of this investigation suggested that isoflavones supplemented to the diets did not influence the skeletal exterior indexes (Long-leggedness, Stockiness and Massiveness) of the ISA brown pullets.

During the recent several decades, some experiments have been done in order to produce designer e... more During the recent several decades, some experiments have been done in order to produce designer eggs enriched with higher concentration of Iodine, by adding potassium iodide (KI) in the feed mixtures or by adding larger amount of fish meal in the feed composition. In our conditions, the experiment was carried out on 80 weeks old laying hens (Hisex Brown) treated with standard amount of Iodine supplied from standard premixes (0.8 mg/kg feed) and with same type of hens treated with enlarged amount of Iodine in feed by adding solution of potassium iodide (KI) which enlarged the content of Iodine in the feed till 5 mg/kg. The laying hens were divided in two groups: 1. control group – 10 hens and 2. experimental group – 20 hens. The control group was fed with vegetable basic feed containing 0.8 mg Iodine per kg,, offering 120 g of feed/hen/day. Enriching egg yolk with vitamin E, in egg producing industry, is very popular because of its antioxidative characteristics in humans. But, there is not much investigations for transfering of vitamin E in egg yolk during the second laying cycle of production using old (80 weeks) molted layers. These investigations were important for egg producing farms because of importance of keeping egg quality and improving functional characteristics of them. For this purpose the basic feed with 30 mg of vitamin E/kg and 0.3 mg selenium/kg was used as a control group. The purpose of an induced molting is to rejuvenate the reproductive system of the hen. During the... more The purpose of an induced molting is to rejuvenate the reproductive system of the hen. During the process of rejuvenation, the reproductive organs should regress rapidly. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the morphological transformation of old hens from two different genotypes in the period of rejuvenation and peak of second egg laying cycle. The weight of reproductive system (ovary and oviduct) and some other vital organs (liver, spleen, pancreas and gizzard) were egzamined. Ovary weight during the rejuvenation was decreasing 85,40% and 89,62% (group 1 ISA Brown laying hens and group 2 Hisex Brown laying hens), and after ending the period of stress till reaching the peak of egg laying they were growing and reached normal weight of 44,40g and 48,12 g in group 1 and 2, respectively (P<0.01). The experiment was established with 30 molted hens (hybrid Hisex Brown), divided in three groups, 10 in each and accommodated 2 per cage. The experimental molted hens were aged 80 weeks on the beginning of the experiment. The control group receive basal feed with 0.30 mg Se kg-1 from sodium selenite, and the group 2 and 3 0.38 mg Se kg-1 and 0.46 mg Se kg-1 from sodium selenite and selenium yeast. The egg production (intensity and egg mass) were significantly higher in the experimental groups with supplementation of selenium yeast in the feed. The egg weight, egg white and egg shell weight were significantly higher in the experimental groups 2 and 3. The yolk weight was not affected by different levels of the selenium in the feed. One of the most practical methods applied during the last two decades is based on restriction of feed. This method, in practice is very popular and usually gives successful results. The eggs produced during the second egg laying cycle usually have larger weight than those during the first cycle, the quality of the shell is always much better than during the last phase of the first egg laying cycle, egg laying intensity reaches 92-94% of the intensity during the first cycle and the feed conversion is about 10% higher.
