Nigeria increasingly needs to compete in knowledge, development and innovation. Such and all human activities are carried out within some form of shelter or organized open spaces which are contributions or products of architecture to the built environment and the economic growth of the nation. It revealed among other things that climate change is due to natural force and anthropogenic activities of man especially in the course of building his house. This alters the Natural equilibrium of the eco-system. The energy mostly used today in houses is produced from burning of fossil fuels which emits greenhouse gases (GHGs) into the atmosphere. These cause global warming and by extension climate change. The paper recommended adaptation and mitigation strategies through sustainable architecture as panacea. It concluded that climate will continue to change; however, man must only tap the natural resources for his survival in a responsible and sustainable manner. Keywords: housing, climate change, built environment, adaptation, mitigation.

It discusses the effect of climate change on architectural design as well as how Architects design buildings that meet the social, economic, and environmental needs of the people it serves over time and changing needs. Since climate is changing and the effect on the built environment can only be reduced and not totally eliminated, there is need for Architects and other professionals in the building industry to produce buildings that are sustainable. While this situation poses a major challenge to the practice of architecture, there arises the need for designers to combat it through improved building design. The paper concludes by suggesting ways to combat the effect of climate change through design solutions. Keywords: climate change, Architectural practice, design solution, sustainable.

Performance evaluation of physical and environmental developments is a key component of sustainable development. This work thus reports the result of a survey of residential satisfaction of this Off-campus Students’ Housing in Ile-Ife through an empirical case study of some randomly selected types using structured questionnaires and personal observations. The result reflected different perceptions of performance and residential satisfaction based on the levels of facilities provided. They mutually complement and enhance each other; thus promoting intended use and desired behaviours within the particular designed space. The emergence of Pentecostalism in Nigerian religious terrain resulted in multiplicity of worship centres across the nation’s human settlements with varying qualities of architectural environments. This paper takes a succinct look at the emerging architecture and bemoans the evident neglect of the potentials of positive setting in enhancing the goals of such centres. It puts forward appropriate professional and policy recommendations for better performance.
