Companies can no longer afford to ignore such vital technology. Many people in South Africa believe that the entry of ride-hailing apps like Uber and Bolt threatens the future of the country's traditional taxi industry. The paper sought to ascertain the influence of app-based ride solutions on the sustainability of conventional metered taxis and the ensuing survival strategies. A hybrid approach using both qualitative and quantitative data was adopted. Twenty participants and 80 respondents provided the qualitative and quantitative data utilized. The results suggest high-quality services and comfort vehicles offered by app-based services like Uber and Bolt have harmed the long-term viability of traditional metered taxis in the Cape Town metropolitan area. This paper investigated respondents’ perception of the cost of credit default and examines requirements for default risk management (DRM) in the vehicle finance industry in South Africa. It is noted that with an increased level of consumer indebtedness, unstable economy, high unemployment, opportunistic risks like health pandemics, vehicle financing faces a higher probability of default from borrowers. This paper examines existing quantitative secondary data to understand consumers ’ brand perception at three levels of the brand equity measurement: (1) Firm level – measures the brand as a financial asset, (2) Product level – compares the price of two products and the price difference is brand equity, (3) Consumer Level – examines the perceptions of consumers and identifies evidence of consumer-brand associations, brand awareness, recall and recognition. Guest loyalty is important for hotel brand, image and differentiation but the understanding of th... more Guest loyalty is important for hotel brand, image and differentiation but the understanding of the real motive for guest loyalty is conflated by hotel innovation and loyalty decisions. Although other service components may be important determinants of guest loyalty, the importance of hotel innovation is examined to improve understanding of dimensions of loyalty decisions that drives innovation in hotel services and strategies. Previous studies provided limited evidence on the relationship between innovation and loyalty despite increased guest appetite for innovative services and the adoption of innovation in hotels. This paper examined evidence of loyalty decisions to understand the importance of hotel innovation as a strategic option to meet and exceed increased guest appetite for innovation induced loyalty. To achieve this objective, a quantitative study design was undertaken, using a systematic random sampling to administer a semi-structure questionnaire to approximately 242 respondents staying in graded hotels. The data were analysed sing descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that innovations are important to guest loyalty decisions with technological and human-oriented innovations having greater importance amongst mediating variables. This paper concludes that innovation can be used as a strategy to improve service quality to support and promote brand image differentiation.

The innovation influence provides rationale to extend product innovation as a strategy to differentiate, compete, and gain loyalty in the hotel industry. With increased competition in the hospitality industry, the examination of hotel product innovation becomes imperative for both practical and theoretical relevance. This paper identifies three knowledge domains: (1) product's knowledge such as emotional or cognitive, (2) consumption experience and (3) the response after consumption and examined customer feedback within these three domains of knowledge. Since consumer feedback on satisfaction is known to be variable in each knowledge domain: based on product and service quality.
