The motivation is what a person do to strieve to achieve something and how hard to pursue it and how they maintain this pursuit. The teacher motivation is related to teachers’ perseverance to create learning in their learners. However, however how hard they try to achieve the best practices for effective teaching there are a lot of variables which hinder this process. The current literature identified many factors which effect motivation, burnout and demotivation of EFL teachers. Turkish EFL students’ perceptions towards communicative activities were analyzed with questionnaires comparing the statistical data based on their gender and proficiency. The motivation of teachers has been regarded as a multi-faceted construct which includes intrinsic and extrinsic factors regarding the teachers’ job settings. While people do activities for intrinsic rewards doing the activity as itself, extrinsic motivation relates to some other factors such as financial rewards external doing the job itself. The intrinsic and extrinsic factors are related to Self determination theory, expectancy theory, flow theory, self efficacy and goal setting theory. This study aimed to investigate the overall beliefs of EFL instructors regarding motivation belie... more This study aimed to investigate the overall beliefs of EFL instructors regarding motivation beliefs about both intrinsic and extrinsic dimensions and self-efficacy beliefs with its dimensions of classroom management, instructional strategies and student engagement efficacy. Secondly, the relationship among them was investigated at EFL higher education context.Two instruments were used for the study. The first instrument used as the data collection instrument is a questionnaire to measure motivation beliefs created by the researcher considering the motivation literature and expert opinions. The second instrument used is the short English version of Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale. The results indicate that teachers’ overall motivation and self-efficacy beliefs were both high. According to the results, both intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation are high. Instructors’ motivation beliefs significantly correlate with their self-efficacy beliefs.
