Bee Monzel
Bee Htaw Monzel was born on May 9, 1973, in Kamawet, Mudon Township, Mon State, Burma (Myanmar), to Nai Blai (U Aung Tin) (Dec. 9, 1930 – Oct. 8, 2021) and Daw Ngwe Own (Apr. 7, 1935). In November 2000, he relocated to Denmark. In 2008, he successfully completed his education at the Copenhagen Adult Education Centre, obtaining the upper secondary school exit examination that qualifies students for admission to higher education preparatory courses. Subsequently, he worked as a translator for the Regional Municipality of Bornholm, Denmark, while pursuing studies at the University College Lillebælt, Odense, Denmark. In 2016, Bee Htaw Monzel graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work and has been working as a Social Welfare Supervisor since then. Presently, he is pursuing a part-time Master of Arts in Education at the University of Southern Denmark.
Prior to leaving Myanmar, Bee Htaw Monzel resided in Yangon from 1996 to 1999. During this period, he participated in numerous courses on Mon Epigraphy, instructed by Nai Maung Toe, Nai Ba Shin, and Dr. Nai Pan Hla. Building on this foundation, he continued his studies in Mon epigraphy, contributing articles and papers from an epigraphical perspective. Notably, he translated newly discovered Mon inscriptions from the 8th to the 15th century AD.
Bee Htaw Monzel has authored several books, including:
1. "History of Pyu and Mons by Epigraphical Perspective" (နိရုတ္တိ စကားဇစ်မြစ်အမြင်ဖြင့် ပျူ နှင့် မွန်လူမျိုးတို့အကြောင်း) (in Burmese), 2014
2. "Hamsavatî Eclipse" (ဟံသာဝတဳဂြးစပ်) (historical romance in Mon), 2017
3. "Comparison of Mon and Pyu Writing Systems and Myittha Inscription" (in English, Burmese, and Mon), 2018
