Eighteen post lactating dairy cows in the highland Tajur Halang Bogor, were used to acsess physio... more Eighteen post lactating dairy cows in the highland Tajur Halang Bogor, were used to acsess physiological condition and efficiency of increasing milk production dosed with bovine somatotropin (bST). The experimental cows were assigned into a Randomized Block Design with a 3x2 factorial arrangement. The first factor was using somatotropin (bST) with three levels (non bST injection, biweekly injection and triweekly injection). The second factor was lactation periodes with two levels (4 th lactating time and 6 th lactating time) Parameters measured were heart rate, respiration frequency, rectal temperature, weight gain, dry matter intake, milk production efficiency and body condition score, milk production, 4% FCM (fat corrected milk.), milk composition, weight gain, milk quality consist of protein, fat, pH. Bovine somatotropin significantly increased heart rate and respiration rate. Also bovine somatotropin injection at 4 th lactating time significantly increased milk production. There were an interaction between bST dan lactating time on milk production and weight gain. Bovine somatotropin injection biweekly in cows on 4 th lactating timeration increased milk production by 28 – 30%, but injection in cows 6 th lactating time increased milk production by 17 – 20% combination with somatotropin dose 250/ml/14 days. Biweekly and triweekly somatotropin supplementation did significantly affect milk production.

The objective of this research was to assess test interval method for estimation of milk yield of... more The objective of this research was to assess test interval method for estimation of milk yield of Friesian Holstein Breed in tropical condition for alternative selection in herd. Purposive sampling method was used in this research. Milk yield data were collected base on daily yield from 3 heads lactating cows. Estimated milk yield from test interval method and actual milk yield were analyzed using statistical correlation analysis. The results showed that estimated milk yield significantly correlated (P<0.01) to actual milk yield (r = 0.991). The estimation of milk yield of individual cows was lower or higher than that of their actual milk yield at 305 days never more than that of 0.29 to 0.79 %. It was concluded that test interval method could be used accurately to estimate milk yield and in addition could be used for selection of Friesian Holstein Breed in wet tropic area

Whey contains 50% of milk nutrients, but currently in Indonesia whey is not used optimally. Whey contained some lactose, and can be used as fermented media. This study used cheese whey as a fermented media for Streptococcus thermopillus (StRRM01) and Lactobacillus bulgaricus (Lb-RRM01) called as Whey Yogurt (WY). WY compared to fresh whey (control) on this study for skin care, include of acne treatment. Data were analyzed by T-test on SPSS statictical program. The research showed that WY inhibited the growth of bacteria Propionibacterim acnes 4.35 mm, while there was no inhibition on control (P <0.05). Fermentation process increased the antioxidant activity for 27.7%. WY had the good potential for the acne treatment. This study showed that whey had a value-added,furthermore in the future might be used to develop into a natural ingredient cosmetics for skin care.

The research location was chosen purposively so that those it represented the pasture were in the District of Belu, Malaka, and TTU; agriculture in the District of Kupang and Kota Kupang; plantation in Kupang District; and forests in TTS District. Forage samples were taken using the 1x1m2 quadrant method. The quadrant is thrown at random. All vegetation in the quadrant is cut and analyzed in the laboratory. Descriptive data analysis. The result is that the main vegetation types of Bali cattle consumption in pasture agroecosystems is natural grass with a nutrient composition of ash (9.9%), CP (5.7%), CF (38.5%), EE (2.2%), NFE (36.4%) and TDN (42.1%).
