Low emission production will be enabled by smart energy solutions and advanced processes and methods. Waste and industrial side streams will become a material resource. Combined with new thinking and operating models and networked business models, technology has enabled a huge step to be taken towards the circular economy, benefiting companies, consumers, society and the environment.

Digitalization opens huge opportunities for service providers to create novel solutions for consumers. For example, consumers are willing to spend more money and time to take care of themselves and this provides new business for wellness service providers. The aim of this paper is to provide new knowledge on how user involvement and co-design can boost development of digital wellness services, and what are their potential benefits for companies. The paper introduces three case studies in which novel mobile wellness services were developed in collaboration with users in Owela platform in different phases of the development process.

Conventional printing quality and cost is constantly improving, yet only few examples of commercial embedded electronics on paper exist. This is due to the fact that inks with optical and electronic properties do not suit conventional paper and are still challenging to print reliably. In this project, we aim to develop a new generic mass media “next generation” paper. We present the challenges and progress on book augmentation, using printing technologies such as screen printing and roll-to-roll fabrication. This first step aims to create an augmented book prototype via hybrid integration of optical sensors in its pages and by embedding energyefficient control and communication electronics in the cover. The system senses user interaction and, through wireless connectivity, presents the user with relevant, updated digital content on an adjunct device. The proposed fabrication sequence has been developed with close at...

To accomplish this task, a research framework has been created to describe relationships and causalities between interdisciplinary trends and issues related to broadcasting and electronic media. This report covers intermediate results as a foresight to 2016. For 2016, the foresight contains four scenarios that represent alternative futures. The scenarios are as follows: #1: Linear Broadcasting #2: Online Mass Media #3: Specialized Audiences #4: Non-linear Era. They are organized on two axes: the horizontal axis describes broadband penetration and IP network performance in general (‘Limited broadband’ – ‘World of broadband’) while the vertical axis describes content availability (‘Exclusive content rights’ ...
