Annette Myre Jørgensen
After finishing my studies in Spanish literature and linguistics, obtaining my degree as Licenciada en Filología Hispánica, I was a high school (Bachillerato y COU) teacher in Spanish language and Literature, Latin and English in northern Spain for three years. Having obtained the Norwegian academic authorities approval of my studies in Spain as Magistergrad, I applied for and got a scholarship for doctoral studies at the Stockholm University in Spanish linguistics and fulfilled my Forskarutbildning there. I was called to go to the University in Bergen the Stockholm University, since they needed a Spanish teacher at the Romance Department, where I was given an opportunity to finish my doctoral thesis. The dissertation didn’t take place till 1998 since we were all making huge efforts together at the Spanish section in the Department in order to start start Master’s degree studies in Spanish and Latinamerican studies. This was a huge success, and we had more and better students we could ever dream of. We were all pretty new at directing Master’s and Doctoral thesis, but we had the pioneer spirit and the excitement of getting things through together, with all the fun and satisfaction that came along with the mutual support we gave each other.
Soon I started a collaboration with Prof. Anna Brita Stenström, in order to build a Spanish teenage corpus, COLA similar to the English COLT. We got fundings for the first time in 2002 and started the recordings in Madrid. After that we went to Buenos Aires and recordings were also made in Santiago de Chile by Eli Marie Drange. Since 2001 I have mostly been doing research on teenage talk, see the book Youngspeak in a Multilingual Perspective. I have also worked on Phraseology along with Juan Antonio Martínez López, giving out a Dictionary in 2009: Locuciones y Expresiones del español.
