Lazarus Chapungu
I am an expert in Geography and Environmental Science with demonstrated experience as a university lecturer, researcher, and consultant in the fields of environmental resource management, sustainable development, and climate change. I served as a chapter scientist, contributing author, glossary editor and review expert at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)’s AR6 working group III. I currently serve as an associate editor for Tourism, Climate and Global Environmental Consequences, Frontiers Publishers. I have experience as a postdoctoral research fellow, with key responsibilities of research, research project management, scientific publication, and PhD students’ supervision. I have published extensively in high impact journals and presented at various international conferences. I am also active in the development sector where I translate theories into practical realities to transform communities, currently serving as the Chair of the programs committee of the board of directors at the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC), a non-governmental organization that, among other objectives, works to build community resilience to climate change and enable recovery from man-made and natural disasters. I hold a PhD in Environmental Science, a master’s degree in environmental policy and planning, an honours degree in Geography, a professional certificate in Project management, and a professional diploma in Applied Monitoring and Evaluation.
