What is being removed?

On June 13, 2023, the following content and functionality will be removed:

  • Conversational Actions: Conversational Actions are Actions that extend the functionality of Assistant with custom conversational experiences. All Conversational Actions will be removed, and will no longer be available to users or developers.

On September 13, 2022, the following feature was removed:

  • Actions console analytics: Analytics in the Actions console provide information about your Action’s usage. As of September 13, 2022 you can no longer access your Conversational Action’s analytics in the console.

Other features and products related to Conversational Actions may be removed before June 13, 2023. See the Changelog for the most up-to-date information about these removals. You will also be notified of any removals if/when they occur.

How do I know if my Action is a Conversational Action?

Conversational Actions extend the functionality of Assistant with custom conversational experiences. To check if your Action is a Conversational Action, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Actions console.
  2. Open your Actions project.
  3. Click Overview in the top navigation.
  4. Check for a banner at the top that says that your project is a Conversational Action.

If there is no banner, your Actions project is not a Conversational Action and won’t be affected. Note that the banner appears for both deployed and undeployed Conversational Actions.

What can I do with Conversational Actions until June 13, 2023?

You can still do the following until June 13, 2023:

  • View and edit your existing Conversational Action. You can continue to make changes to your Conversational Action until the sunset date. If you modify your Action and release it to production, it must pass Google’s review process again.
  • Create and deploy new Conversational Actions to production. Google is maintaining functionality and tooling for Conversational Actions until the sunset date, so you can continue to create and deploy Conversational Actions. Your new Conversational Action is still required to pass a review process before it is deployed to production. For more information about this process, see Release your Action.
