TENTATIVE DRAFT OF "ABOUT" PAGE

%h4 About tip4commit

%p Tip4commit is an independent service that is not directly associated with most of the projects that are sponsored here. Open source projects may be sponsered by anyone and tips are, by default, automatically offered to all code contributors, with or without the consent of the project maintainer.

%p When a project is sponsored on tip4commit, initially, tips are offered and distributed automatically by the tip4commit system at a uniform rate of 1% for each commit that is merged into the master branch by the project maintainer. To be clear, these are merely offers and no one actually receives bitcoins until they have associated a bitcoin address with their email address in the tip4commit system. Neither the sponsors nor tip4commit decides who receives tip offers and who does not. It is always the project maintainer that decides this. Using the default automated system this is simply a side-effect of merginf commits into master or not.

%p If you are the maintainer of a project that is currently sponsored in tip4commit and you would like to assume fine control of tip dispersal, then you may log into tip4commit using your email address or via github oauth and disable the automated sytem on the project management page. You may then decide who and when to offer tips or not to offer tips at all, or you may give tips only to yourself for your commits. You may also choose which branch tip4sommit should track and whether email notifications will be sent upon tip offers. You may still offer tips to someone without sending tham an email but you would need to let them know some other way. Only the project maintainer and those appointed as priveledged collaborators of the repo itself may change the project settings. These permissions are not controlled on tip4commit as it is assumed that you trust the collaborators you have appointed.

%p If you would like to indicate that your project does not accept donations then you may indicate so in the tipping policies but there is currently no way to prevent your fans from donating your project. Again, you need not accept these offers. Merely state that btcoin contributions will not be claimed by or dispersed to anyone and will remain in tip4commit cold storage forever.
