Fediverse
Use cases
It would be nice to have an icon representing the Fediverse, a network of federated social media sites using a protocol like ActivityPub. There are already icons for Mastodon, Threads and Flipboard, but it would be nice to have a more generic one, as there are dozens of Fediverse platforms.
Design ideas
There are two widely adopted Fediverse symbols. One of them is the pentagon shape
which is commonly used by the community.
There is also the corporate fedi logo, used by Meta for Threads. Flipboard also adopted it.
There are also other proposals that don't get larger adoption, so they shouldn't be considered yet. It would be nice to have one of the two as fediverse.svg and the other as fediverse-alt.svg.
