That issue is talking about 2 things:

  1. When setting multiple roles, are they handled as AND or OR?
  2. How can I do the oposite?

For (1), the answer is OR. This could be made more clear in the first paragraph of the "Roles" section.

For (2), the answer since 2.4 is using Expressions. That's already documented and I don't think we should document that for lower Symfoy versions.

I think we can close this issue now, as this section is completely rewritten.
