samtools.org security issue?

I googled 'samtools download' and was presented with a website "samtools.org" that looks for all the world like a malware distribution site. The insane graph they have is clearly AI generated. What is going on here? They have a download link to what is supposedly the current version of samtools, which I didn't trust, yet, it has the same md5sum hash as the one downloaded from htslib.org.
