Hello everyone,
This post is a show-and-tell version of my article “Foundry IQ: the knowledge layer for agents in Microsoft Foundry (Part 1)”.
As organizations scale AI agents, a pattern repeats: each team builds its own RAG pipeline (extraction, chunking, embeddings, indexing, hybrid queries, reranking). It works early on, but quickly turns into a governance challenge—duplicated maintenance, inconsistent access policies, variable answer quality, and low traceability of what knowledge was used and where it came from.
Foundry IQ solves this by acting as a unified knowledge layer: instead of every app re-implementing RAG, you create reusable, governed knowledge bases and connect them to one or more knowledge sources, so knowledge becomes a shared service.
