Hit 3 to go to the search menu. I recommend not hitting the e key if you don't want to edit anything. This Cheatsheet is a good tool for most issues. Edit: I found something in the Arch wiki. Try this https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Ncmpcpp#Remapping_keys |

My collection is managed with Beets and I'm happy with that. I didn't even know ncmpcpp could edit tags.
Just now, without looking, I attempted to perform a search in ncmpcpp and when I looked over I saw it was making some destructive changes. It turns out that I had somehow asked it to rename one artist, adding the search query I was trying to make to the end of their name. I'm not sure exactly what I mistyped to cause that.
I've fixed it easily via beets, but I don't want it to happen again. Is there a way to disable all tag editing functions in ncmpcpp?
