Both loading the .dfu file from the download page preview -428 and installing a fresh built image preview -430 succeeds on a F411 Blackpill V3.1, 25MHz, 8M flash. |

I noticed in STM32CubeProgrammer: however, the file size is really 916,550 bytes but the old firmware is still there. |

A .hex file is always about 3 times larger than the binary file, just because it's HEX. When I build the file I get a similar size than above. I have attached the previes-430 file which I have built and which works on my board. However I installed the firmware using the .dfu file and dfu-util. Edit: If you still have a firmware, you can start the dfu upload mode with machine.bootloader(). Using the buttons on the board is a little bit tricky. One has to find the proper rhythm. |

Before I do ... took a brand-new board and verified that there was no firmware on it. Flashed an older firmware from STM32CubeProgrammer says that it uploaded the wanted old file but obviously it didn't. Looks like I don't know how to run STM32CubeProgrammer. |

I can now change between your firmware and the latest on the download site and have Closing as this probably of no value. Thanks again. It seems I have killed another 2 8MB flash chips as the default version works on those 2 boards. O well ... |
