benchmarking landlab models

Hi there,

I was curious if there are any ways to bench mark landscape evolution models in landlab. I've been running some large, high-resolution models that i've had to start all the way over a couple of times because the computers i am working on needed to be rebooted. It would be great if I could have save points while the model is running in case this happens again.
