hyprland crash logs? also maybe report it in hyprland instead? Is my swap so big that I never experience this ?

is there any problem of having that much swap.. ? i don't think its because of memeory overflow.. sometimes after startup changing workspaces makes it trigger the problem too.. (i'm a bit fustrated as its making system unstable.. what do you recommend me to do.? .. ###crash logs after hard manual reboot.. Mem: 15Gi 6.2Gi 421Mi 1.4Gi 10Gi 9.0Gi Jul 17 09:13:10 archlinux kernel: ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [_SB.PC00.LPCB.HEC.CFSP], AE_NOT_FOUND (20240827/psargs-332) ###now im totally lost.. i checked if my disk is corrupt .. (its fine too).. this problem came outa nowhere too.. help me out |

okay i pivoted to previous stable snapshot and my current ram usage is ap.10gb and system seems stable too .. thanks. (hopefully it wont cra 628C sh ).. what sort of swap are you using. ? your systems seems more stable .. any recommendations on that.. thanks |

I only have a laptop 16Gb ram and 1TB storage. I ended up creating this much swap space because I have a recent project that I need to train a n AI model. So I attempted to do it in my laptop and setting the swap 8Gb and above fixes my OOM issues. I did not bother to revert it back lol. BTW please read any kernel changes that are happening lately maybe it is your device. |

Description
Hyprland freezes and eventually crashes into a black screen when under heavy memory usage (e.g., running a Next.js dev server + browser + VSCode). Logs show repeated errors from pixman_region32_init_rect.
Steps to Reproduce
1.Start Hyprland session
2.Open browser, code editor, and a local dev server (e.g., npm run dev on a Next.js project)
3.Monitor system memory usage (htop, free -h)
4.At around ~11GB used (out of 16GB), system starts to lag
5.Within seconds, Hyprland freezes and screen goes black
6.Logs show pixman_region32_init_rect errors
Expected Behavior
Hyprland should remain stable under high memory pressure. If memory exceeds limits, Linux OOM-killer should step in—not compositor crash.
Actual Behavior
Under heavy memory usage (~11GB+), system starts to lag
Hyprland eventually freezes; screen goes black
Can’t open new processes; only already-open apps (e.g., browser) work briefly
Terminal access fails (zsh: locking failed for ~/.zsh_history: read-only file system)
Filesystem remounted as read-only (EROFS errors when writing .next/* files during npm run dev)
Requires hard shutdown
Logs show:
*** BUG ***
In pixman_region32_init_rect: Invalid rectangle passed
Set a breakpoint on '_pixman_log_error' to debug
Screenshots
Filesystem Emergency Behavior
When the system is under memory stress, the root filesystem (/) is automatically remounted as read-only (failsafe behavior). This:
This behavior is triggered before any OOM logs appear, suggesting a sudden lock-up tied to swap exhaustion or graphical crash interaction.

Values above are derived and sanitized from the theme.conf file,
This is to ensure themes won't have any 'exec' or 'source'

Dear Theme Owner:
You can still add your own custom 'exec' or 'source' commands
by adding it as variable, examples (you can name the variable anything):
Note that you should indicate it in your README.md

Use this for reference to override the default HyDE' hyprland configuration
! Never source ~/.config/hypr/hyde.conf directly, it is sourced by the main configuration file
This file acts as an override configuration for the user to set their environment variables and startup commands
Static variable declaration in hyde.conf will be prioritized over the default and dynamic configuration
NOTE
Leaving the variable empty will unset the variable
Commenting out the variable will use the default value
For updated configuration options, see https://github.com/HyDE-Project/HyDE/blob/master/Configs/.config/hypr/hyde.conf
For simplicity, ./hyde.conf ONLY accepts $ for variables and # for comments, will sanitize the file to remove any other characters
$start.VAR , $env.VAR are ONLY HyDE specific conventions for consistency.

Grouping of binds for easier management
$d=[Group Name|Subgroup Name1|Subgroup Name2|...]
'$d' is a variable that is used to group binds together (or use another variable)
This is only for organization purposes and is not a defined hyprland variable
What we did here is to modify the Description of the binds to include the group name
The $d will be parsed as a separate key to be use for a GUI or something pretty
[Main|Subgroup1|Subgroup2|...]
Main - The main groupname
Subgroup1.. - The subgroup names can be use to avoid repeating the same description
