Attempting to follow the python tutorial in README.md in a Google Cloud Shell environment, and I get the following error:

This process works fine on my MacOS laptop, so I must be just misunderstanding something about my Cloud Shell environment.

Looks like Cloud Shell needs you to run it in a venv, I'm assuming for safety reasons?

Run the following to create a venv called test

python3 -m venv test
source text/bin/activate

To be honest, its probably good practice to update the README to add a step for creating a venv
