All we can do is type good words in the bad boxes
Sighing about Microsoft Teams

(4 January 2024)

A photo of a comment in Microsoft Teams: ALL WE CAN DO IS TYPE GOOD WORDS IN THE BAD BOXES

A while ago, working with a team where everything happened in Microsoft Teams. Everything had to happen there: Teams was the mandated org-wide communication tool of choice. The CTO’s choice, probably.

I don’t get on with Teams. I find it slow, clunky, impenetrable, hard to use to the point of being actually useless.

A colleague and I were moaning about it. Working in our home offices, 30 miles apart or more, using Teams, of course. My colleague made a point about how we had to complete a certain writing task one way or another. A combination of Teams and SharePoint was all we had. Somehow, we had to succeed using them both, or fail.

I replied, resigned to the circumstances:

All we can do is type good words in the bad boxes.
