English: The "Catalan Talgo" ran for many years from Barcelona to Genève (Geneva) as a useful daytime service. Although only a short section of the route was on the broad Spanish gauge, the workings were formed of Talgo stock which had its wheel sets adjusted at the border station of Port Bou. Haulage across France over the years was assigned to various classes of loco. By the early 1990s, a small batch of BB7200s were adapted to work the train. However, the section from Valence through to Chambéry at the time was non-electrified. As such, a BB67300 was diagrammed to drag the Talgo set and electric loco. From Chambéry through to Genève the BB7200 would continue on its own. As Talgo stock had a diesel electric generator for train heating and on-board supplies this unusual operation had no effect on passenger comfort even on a hot day.
Nowadays the Talgo operation is reduced to a shorter working on the French side running as far as Montpellier. Passengers now change here for a TGV through to Genève.
