This Is How a Workation in Spain Affected My HRV(Spoiler: It’s Really Impressive)

Working the dream.

I had thought about it many times but had never done it. Five years ago, I thought workations were only for “the happy few”. Those who have progressive employers or those who have made it as freelancers.

Nowadays, working abroad has long ceased to be special and there are even lists of the best locations for a workation. Since last year, my employer also has a workation policy, which means that a sunny, warm work week in the middle of winter is suddenly no longer a distant dream.

So I didn’t have to hesitate when a colleague invited me to spend a week working under the Spanish sun. Especially since in Amsterdam, where I have been living and working for about 3 years now, it rains and storms 99.9% of the winter.

After half an hour of comparing airline tickets, Seville is our best option. Vibrant, atmospheric city, good food, friendly people, cheap, and … 23 degrees with full sun. What more could a person want?

Five days later we are sitting on a terrace eating tapas with the sun on our faces and the smell of ripe oranges in the background. Another world…

What was different from home in Amsterdam?
