The study centered on the role of social researchers in examining the social and political inclus... more The study centered on the role of social researchers in examining the social and political inclusion and participation of immigrants, as Moreover, Faist (2014) stated that social researchers and scientists play a significant role in the migration-development nexus. He argued that the theories and studies carried out by these researchers help in the formulation of policies for policy-makers and equally understand migration trends. Thus, in view of this assertion recent work on immigrants’ social and political participation by Gabriele Erpenbeck was reviewed. He examined the existing national laws and international immigration policies and treaties, and discovered some loopholes that are affecting the adaptation of immigrants in their new environment. He pointed the issues of work permits, exclusion of immigrants from voting in the elections and other forms of political and social alienation. The findings were equally confirmed from the interview held with Nnebelum (2022) where he pointed out the issue of racism, thus, to emphasized on the role social researchers in aiding in the formulation and implementation of policies that will impact positively on the lives of the immigrants, just like Faist (2014) pointed out.
What started as a twitter campaign in the last quarter of the year, 2020, with millions of hashta... more What started as a twitter campaign in the last quarter of the year, 2020, with millions of hashtags #ENDSARS, #EndPoliceBrutality, from tweeps, influencers and Nigerian celebrities flying on Twitter NG platform, degenerated into a protest, when the Nigerian youths hit the streets across every corners of Nigeria, with placards, banners and fliers boldly inscribed the aforementioned hashtags, to register their displeasure and discontentment in the activities of SARS, a tactical unit of the NPF called the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) which was created in 1992 to deal with crimes associated with robbery, motor vehicle theft, kidnapping, cattle rustling and firearms (Raji, 2020), whom decided to redirect their surveillance radar to innocent Nigerian youths going about their daily activities amidst economic hardship behove on them by the present Buhari administration.
Diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and her neighbors has been marred recently by Boko Haram ... more Diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and her neighbors has been marred recently by Boko Haram Insurgency, lack of security of lives and property in Nigeria has led to reduced life expectancy for the citizens, low national growth and development which is primarily due to the activities of terrorist (Boko-Haram) in Nigeria and its borders. Nonetheless, few empirical studies exist to ascertain this fact even though the general public perceived low growth and development as the resultant effects of terrorist activities in the country. This study provided empirical evidence on Nigeria’s foreign policy and the role of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in tackling the menace of terrorism. The study employed a cross-sectional survey design in sampling 150 MNJTF personnel in order to assess their opinion on the influence of Nigeria’s policy in their fight against terrorism. The findings revealed that policy changes as regards to counterterrorism funding and personnel welfare funding have affected their activities and operations. The study also, discovered that MNJTF faced challenges such as; delay in payment of allowances, inadequate logistics and so on. Notwithstanding, the challenges, the MNJTF have recorded success in their fight against insurgency. Therefore, there is need for governments within the Lake Chad Basin to give more support and commitment to the MNJTF in their fight against terrorism.
The study investigated whether organizational climate and job satisfactions will significantly pr... more The study investigated whether organizational climate and job satisfactions will significantly predict organizational citizenship behaviour. Three hundred and fifty-seven (357) telecommunication employees were conveniently drawn for the study. One hundred and sixty-five (165) males and one hundred and ninety two (192) females with age mean of 40.5 years participated in the study. Three scales were used in this study; which are organizational climate scale, Job satisfaction scale and organizational citizenship behaviour scale. Two null hypotheses were stated and tested; organizational climate will not significantly predict organizational citizenship behaviour; job satisfaction will not significantly predict organizational citizenship behaviour. The result showed that organizational climate significantly predicted organizational citizenship behaviour (β = .37, ∆R2 = .13, p < .001). Also, job satisfaction significantly predicted organizational citizenship behaviour (β = .17, ∆R2 = .02, p < .008), so the null hypotheses were rejected. Implication and limitation of the study were discussed and suggestions were made for further studies.
