Global Storm-Resolving Models: Not just more of the same
David Randall, Colorado State University,

About a dozen global "storm-resolving" atmospheric models now exist with resolutions fine enough to resolve mesoscale convective systems. Some are coupled to ocean models. Many of the models have been developed by modifying pre-existing lower-resolution models, but there is much to be gained by starting from a blank piece of paper. I will discuss some physical and numerical ideas about the best way to formulate a coupled GSRM
