[edit]From Middle Welsh llenn, from Old Welsh lenn, from Proto-Brythonic *llenn, from Proto-Celtic *linnā (“cloak, veil”).
Cognate with Breton lenn, Cornish len, Irish leann, Gaulish linna.[1][2]
