cross road (plural cross roads)

  1. Alternative form of crossroad.
    • 1952 September, A. E. C. Dent, “Early G.W.R. Road Services”, in Railway Magazine, page 631:
Services at Cheddar and Bridgwater running through an almost continuous line of houses and on much used roads, could not be made to pay, whereas those on the Landyssul-New Quay road running over miles of empty moorland, were among the heaviest services, with passengers joining and leaving at every cross road.
