Vaismaa
Appearance
Finnish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]vais- + maa. Older variants include Vaesmaa, Vahesmaa. Seemingly from Isokyrö. The meaning and origin of the first component is uncertain, although it could derive from a dialectal form of vaihe like va(i)hes, thus meaning something like "land in between".
