Issue with an article

[edit]

Hi Sundostund i have a problem would you mind if i ask for some help its an issue with 2 articles ?

Friendlyhistorian (talk) 16:31, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Friendlyhistorian: Please do; I will be glad to help, if I can. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 17:26, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok so there a person who has removed lifespans from the list of presidents of guatemala . Also he made massive changes to the list of prime ministers of france and articles looks nothing like other lists the issue is GoldRingChip has like 131,999 edits is here much longer than me and i dont want to go and have an edit war and potentially get in trouble. My plan in these cases is usually to just let be and come back a few months later but these time i have been pretty much demoralized here . Is there anything you could do since you are also an experianced editor ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 17:46, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
      • Frankly I think lots of data could be included as interesting although excessive. And lifespan is just not necessary. Regardless, I shall restore those articles to keep my fellow editors happy. —GoldRingChip 18:18, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Justlettersandnumbers: As can be seen, I have created the article in question (City Assembly of Belgrade) quite some time ago (back in 2018), and at the present time I am really not interested in some serious/comprehensive work on that article. Of course, I can only thank you for your notification, and I can say that if any copyright infringement took place, it was completely unintentional on my part. Naturally, any material that resulted from such infringement should be removed from the article, and replaced with something sourced and acceptable. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 21:37, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, Sundostund – the article will probably be deleted in a week or so unless someone chooses to rewrite it. The big question, of course, is whether you think that there might be other articles where you've copied content from non-free sources? If so, please mention them here so that they too can be cleaned up. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:32, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Justlettersandnumbers: Yes, I understand. Obviously, I wouldn't want to see this article deleted. Same goes for City Assembly of Novi Sad, which is in the same position (but wasn't created by me). I would like to "save" them both, but I honestly have no idea how to rewrite them into something acceptable, with reliable free sources, and without turning it into a mammoth task... and no, I don't remember any other article created by me, that could have the same issue as this one. Naturally, mistakes could happen, but as I said, even this one wasn't intentional at all. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 20:37, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Justlettersandnumbers: Furthermore, I would recommend you to check Zagreb Assembly, City Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica and City Assembly of Niš for possible copyright infringements. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 20:54, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) That's fair enough, Sundostund, writing a properly-sourced article is indeed a lot of work – and so is something that to my great regret I hardly ever do any more. I said 'deleted', but it's actually more likely that it will become a redirect to the page on the city; that means that you could write a small amount about it in that page with having to worry whether it meets our notability requirements and so on. If over time that develops sufficiently you'd always be free to split it off into a separate page. And yes, will look at those too. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:03, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template editor granted

Your account has been granted the "templateeditor" user permission, allowing you to edit templates and modules that have been protected with template protection. It also allows you to bypass the title blacklist, giving you the ability to create and edit editnotices. Serbian Sandbox
Good start for the sandbox. If I could help I would, but that's for you to approve.

Tvoj zločinac iz Srbije, Overthrow-dictator (talk) 17:05, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Overthrow-dictator: I'm not sure if you are talking about this sandbox? Anyway, I surely do appreciate your offer! Please help with it if you can/want, but honestly that's quite a stalled project at this point. Its been some years since I started it. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 06:56, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, that's the one i'm talking about. Anyways, thanks for allowing me.
Tvoj zločinac iz Srbije, Overthrow-dictator (talk) 11:32, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sundostund; Go look at it now and tell me what you think. I cleaned it and updated it with new images as well.
Tvoj zločinac iz Srbije, Overthrow-dictator (talk) 13:12, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Overthrow-dictator: Its looks quite fine, I don't have some objections. Thank you for displaying interest in it, and helping out! — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 12:59, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that, and no problem. I like helping out with these types of things. Also, how do you do signatures?
Tvoj zločinac iz Srbije, Overthrow-dictator (talk) 13:04, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Overthrow-dictator: You can change your default-looking signature at Preferences; its not hard at all if you want to create a customized (personalized) signature. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 13:08, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Welp, I did it. How is it? (color is from the Serbian Radical Party) Overthrow-dictator (talk / contribs) 13:20, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Overthrow-dictator: Yes, you got it - and rather quickly, to be honest! I'm glad because of that, but I can't say that I like how you got the idea for that color; I'm def not a SRS voter myself. Still, if that's your (political) position, than fine... I myself am associated with green color around here for some time now (not just because of Green politics), so that's why I use green color for my signature as well. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 13:30, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not a voter for the СРС, I just think the color is cool. My color is red, but it didn't look as good as this. If we're getting political, my (personal) party I would vote for would be the СДСС in Croatia, as I like their ideological views. Anyways, yea, thanks for all! Problem with a dispute

[edit]

Hi Sundostund i am sorry for bothering you . May i ask for help ? i have dispute with the a user named Skjoldbro we been arguing about election positioning its been a back and forth . Now He has left messages on the talk page of another article and the wikiproject politics . Can you help me trying to get him to talk on either his talk page or mine and help us solve the dispute . Friendlyhistorian (talk) 12:56, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Friendlyhistorian: In all honesty, I am very reluctant to get myself involved in disputes, of almost all kinds, or to participate in disputes of other editors. I can only reccomend to both you and Skjoldbro to discuss your differences and find some compromise, as any sort of edit-warring would only make the problem deeper and/or result in blocks. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 17:30, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok no worries i just see you are an authority on lists but no worries . Take care and happy editing . Also something unrealted would you mind if i asked a few questions about editing later at some point  ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 17:56, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Friendlyhistorian: Well, thanks for that. I could be called an authority on lists, but on disputes... no thanks. And of course, I will be glad to hear your questions. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 18:00, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:2018 disestablishments in Chad indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 16:29, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Balkans or Eastern Europe, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Changes to List of presidents of Burundi

[edit]

Hi. I'm trying to improve List of presidents of Burundi to FL status. I'll be nominating it as soon as I can. To that end, I noticed that you reverted some of the changes that I've done to the list. To avoid an edit war, I'll explain why a couple of your reversions should be undone

  1. [1] Every row is supposed to have one unique cell known as the header cell. This is denoted by the "!" at the beginning and it has "scope=col".
  2. [2] tables are supposed to have captions. This caption can be set to be visible for screen-readers only, if it deemed appropriate to not show them normally.

If you agree with me, then please undo those reversions. If not, we can discuss it further and I can point to the relevant sections of the MOS. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:19, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MPGuy2824: Hi. I wasn't aware that you are trying to improve the list to FL status, and I wouldn't want to interfere with that. Actually, I've just formatted List of presidents of Rwanda the same way as you did with the Burundian list... Anyway, I think that I corrected the issues you had with my reversions. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 08:38, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing those two issues. Are you interested in bringing one of the list articles that you've started to FL status? It might be a bit harder for the Rwanda one, since some reviewers prefer FL nominations of lists with at least 10 entries. Anyway, if you are interested, I'm happy to either work on a list together with you, or give you pointers on improving a list that you work on yourself. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:44, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MPGuy2824: You're welcome... And yes, of course, I am interested in bringing some of them to FL status, but I doubt that I could dedicate myself to such work at this time. As for the Rwandan list, I formatted it the same way as the Burundian list for the sake of certain consistency – having in mind close historical and political relations between the two countries – not really because I aimed for FL status for it (although it woudl certainly be nice if that happen). — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 08:52, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt that I could dedicate myself to such work at this time. It isn't as hard or as time-consuming as one would think. Choose a similar head of state list. I'd be happy to give you as many pointers as needed for that, and you can take as long as needed (months, even) before nomination. Even after nomination, there is a lot of leeway in how long you take to fix issues and respond. I would really encourage you to try one. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:06, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MPGuy2824: I meant that I want to focus on some different kind of work at this time; recently I wasn't as much active on WP as I wanted to anyway, so I'd want to focus on some other things (not to mention real life commitments). Thank you very much for your offer of help! I'll certainly have it on my mind, at some later point. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 11:35, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, as you might have noticed, I nominated the list for FL. A reviewer pointed out that the exact dates of joining and leaving as president aren't present in the individual references. Do you know where you found the info originally? I'm pretty sure that I would be able to get individual references for each date, but it would be better if it was all in one reliable source. Same problem with the party. Thanks. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:22, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MPGuy2824: Hi. I'm glad that you nominated the list, and hopefully the outcome will be positive... As for your question Do you know where you found the info originally?, I think that we have a misunderstanding here. I didn't find any info for the list (namely the exact dates of joining and leaving as president); I merely worked with the existing data, and reformatted the list some years ago. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 17:33, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since you were the editor with the most edits on the list, I kinda assumed that you started it too. Never mind about the sources: I found a good one and added it to the list. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 11:29, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

On Rwanda and Burundi

[edit]

sorry i reverted the edits i was not aware they were about accessibility . I did some other edit to keep most of the accessibility stuff . I get triger happy with certain articles since the kept getting vandalized. Btw would mind asking a question ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 20:14, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Friendlyhistorian: I understand, but please try to be less trigger happy, when it's obvious that an article wasn't vandalized with previous edit(s)... and sure, ask the question. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 20:35, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok so one thing i notice about you is you do a lot of minor edits what exactly do you do if you dont mind saying like i compare the artilcles and they tend to be the say what do you do . Do you add sources ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 21:49, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also for the article before i do aim for some uniformity i think having pictures after the name looks good Friendlyhistorian (talk) 21:50, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Friendlyhistorian: I am sorry, I didn't really understand your question, to be honest. But yes, I do a lot of minor edits, at times; my editing generally alternates between cosmetical and substantial. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 21:55, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah sorry but its like you are everywhere fro some reason . Friendlyhistorian (talk) 22:00, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am just trying to get the logic like usually what do you change in a minor edit ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 22:00, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Friendlyhistorian: Well yes, I have a wide variety of interests when it comes to articles and editing, so I may appear to be "everywhere" – especially since we concluded, some time ago, that both you and me share interest in lists of officeholders... As for edits, both minor and major ones, I just change what I see as problematic or insufficient in an article. There is really no rule on that. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 22:06, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah no worries i was just curious . I have not ever spoken to wiki editor about stuff not related to pages i edit so i got curious . Sorry if kept you busy. I been here many here but i still trying to figure things out . Friendlyhistorian (talk) 22:10, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also you are from the balkans so that is a point of interest since i am from the Balkans too. Also you have been very helpful in the past and i am happy to see you when i do edit on various pages . Friendlyhistorian (talk) 22:14, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Btw sorry for bothering may i ask a question are we allowed to use the sandbox to temporarily store and article ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 16:20, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Friendlyhistorian: Well, the sandbox is supposed to be used for (active) work on an article, not for some permanent storage of data – especially data that isn't related to Wikipedia. Also, be careful to avoid making your sandbox looking like a fake article, if you store an entire Wiki article in it. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 17:54, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
