References

[edit]

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Hezimmerman/reftest and try it out.

Named references

[edit]
Chzz was born in 1837, <ref name="MyBook">
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref> in Footown.<ref name="MyBook"/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates

[edit]

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation
 | last = Smith
 | first = John
 | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century
 | publication-date = 2001
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
}}
</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs. |}

Request for help from Chzz

[edit]

Hello there, I hope you are well.

For a change, I have a request for help, for you!

There is a project where Wikipedia works with universities, and students write articles as part of their courses. It is a pilot scheme, and I think it shows great promise - but it works best if the students interact with the Wikipedia community.

As you have had your own experiences in getting used to Wikipedia, and because of your background, I wondered if perhaps you could help me - by looking over a couple of articles, and giving any suggestions, help, advice, etc. to the specific students.

The topic areas are not your field, but I don't think that matters; I just want to encourage some good interaction.

The only catch: they have only a few weeks left - they had a few troubles earlier in the course and...well, here we are - 2 weeks to go, and I want to make something happen for them.

So - two articles, four students,

The article Education policy in Brazil (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) was started by Elizabetsyatbu (talk · contribs),

The article California Proposition 19 (2010) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) is, re. lorink (talk · contribs) abond112 (talk · contribs) Dross33 (talk · contribs)

If you could provide any comments, feedback, suggestions, or other interaction - to help with this - that'd be superb.

I hope you don't mind my asking. Any little comments to those users, and/or on the article talk pages, would be brilliant; thanks so much in anticipation.  Chzz  ►  04:54, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much - that was great, I really appreciate it.  Chzz  ►  20:42, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're a gentleman, and a scholar, Sir. Thank you for helping out, when I asked.  Chzz  ►  02:36, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and thank-you! - Elizabetsyatbu

[edit]

Hi, thanks for checking out the article on Education policy in Brazil and leaving comments. It was really great to get comments, and made this project/class a lot more enjoyable for me. So thank-you. I'm hoping to make a last push, adding to new developments, this coming weekend. Please let me know if you have any additional comments. :) Elizabetsyatbu (talk) 21:05, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An Odd Revision (in Russian??) July 28,2011

[edit]

In exploring this odd revision, I found a structure for 1-methylene-4,4-diphenylcyclohexadiene, a structure which is totally irrelevant to the present discussion but which superficially looks structurally related. This may be from a Russian article. I do not find it in the current article

Anyone who can explain what this revision is would help with an explanation. --Hez (talk)== 21:31, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ERROR IN THE LOGIN SCRIPT IN WIKIPEDIA
