To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hendrikje Doelen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gouda. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:03, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Short descriptions

[edit]

Thanks so much for adding short descriptions to all those articles.

Would it be a problem to modify the process so that a new line is added after the short description rather than have it on the same line as the existing first line of the page? Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:31, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Accidental mark as vandalism

[edit]

Hi,

Just to let you know I accidentally clicked the vandalism button on your recent Razorlight edit. I immediately reverted it but I'd just like to apologise profusely for any grievance this causes DeputyBeagle (talk) 23:33, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Ytoyoda. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Aymeric Laporte, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Ytoyoda (talk) 13:05, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Short description

[edit]

Hi, 2002zk. I have noticed you adding several Short description templates to articles, as for example here at Willow Run. Could I ask you to add a line-feed after the template when you add it? I don't suppose it makes much of a difference to the coding/functionality of the page, but it looks a little...messy, when, for example, the {{about}} template comes immediately after the {{Short description}}. I think it would be clearer for everybody if there were just one template per line (as is usual). Thanks,— JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 22:40, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I came here to say the same thing. The way you are doing it makes the markup a bit cluttered. BernardoSulzbach (talk) 17:51, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@JohnFromPinckney and BernardoSulzbach: I will be the third editor to ask 2002zk to please press the enter key after adding a short description. Are you listening? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:24, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Since you pinged us, BernardoSulzbach and I are listening, but we aren't the problem. @2002zk: is a mobile user and therefore, probably can't hear us. I wish there were a way to communicate with this user short of a brief block. — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 22:49, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ha ha ha. No, this is actually so funny. There are things that could help improve the encyclopedia, but this? And even suggesting blocking, are you out of your mind? If you even go so far as to realise that these are mobile edits, why not, like, ask the app developers to change how the short description feature is implemented, as you seem to care enough to be complaining here. ~~~~

The idea of a brief block to get a user's attention is not my invention; I have seen it considered in a few cases at AN/I. I do not mean to say that this little annoyance is a blockable offense; it was just the only thing I know of which might get past the WP:THEYCANTHEARYOU problem.
As for dev requests: what change to you suggest I ask for? I don't think I have any problem with the way SDs are implemented. I have a problem with the way this user is adding them. — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 00:07, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I mean the implementation of the "Add short description" feature in the app. ~~~~

I wasn't aware there was an "Add short description" feature in the app. I guess I assumed 2002zk was just typing it in. — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 17:13, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also, do you think not adding a linebreak would be a case for ANI? ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)
07:41, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's tough, since it's not necessarily a major issue; as far as I know (although I can't be sure), it doesn't break any displays or readers, it's just a bloody nuisance for you humans to read. And the step before ANI is trying to work out conflicts through communication, which we apparently can't, and an ANI case presumes (AFAIK) an opportunity for the subject editor to state their case (which they can't do if they don't see the ANI notice on their talk).
The best idea I have for the next thing to do, if they resume editing like this, is to revert, and leave a link to this thread in the edit summary. Possibly they will notice something then, and figure out to come here and engage with us. — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 17:13, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Let's not solve a case instead of the disease: if the app is really guilty of not adding these linebreaks, we need to fix the app. BernardoSulzbach (talk) 18:25, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@JohnFromPinckney, BernardoSulzbach, and Magnolia677: If it's pertinent, this user's similar edit on Sue H. Elmore caused formatting problems with the infobox, i.e. wrecking it. The problem is the lack of line break. Jessicapierce (talk) 14:31, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
