Sinking

[edit]

Do we have coordinates and depth of the sinking yet? 70.108.1.24 (talk) 14:20, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result was: promoted by Lightburst talk 16:22, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Created by Fritzmann2002 (talk). Self-nominated at 14:23, 2 March 2024 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/MV Rubymar; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.[reply]

  • New enough, long enough and within policy. The hook is interesting and supported by an inline citation to a reliable news source. QPQ done. No image. It should be good to go. The only small concern I have is that it is on a very recent subject and may change substantially before being promoted. I would therefore caution the promoter to take an extra look before queuing it. Yakikaki (talk) 15:39, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This should have been a ITN nomination Abo Yemen 14:43, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i have nominated it Abo Yemen 15:06, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article move

[edit]

Hi @Abo Yemen:, I saw you moved the article without discussing on the talk page first. I was hoping we could do so. The article should be located at MV Rubymar. It discusses the characteristics of the ship, its ownership history, and its participation in the Black Sea Grain initiative, none of which are associated with its sinking. Further, the most notable part of the article isn't its sinking but the fact that it was attacked. Please let me know your thoughts; if we are at an impasse I will open a move discussion so we can get input from uninvolved editors. Fritzmann (message me) 14:40, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

as far as i am aware, the participation in the "Black Sea Grain initiative" wasn't very notable to have made this article to be created. Like other ships that have been attacked during the Red Sea Crisis, almost all of them didn't have an article before them getting attacked.
There is also a wikipedia policy, that i forgot what it is named (ill look for it), that talks about subjects that weren't notable except for a single event. This article is an example of the policy Abo Yemen 14:49, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would argue this is over-precision. The article covers every aspect of the ship, not just its sinking. The article is about a civilian ship that was sunk, and the WP Ships guidelines state that article titles should be styled as "Prefix Shipname". Fritzmann (message me) 15:38, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
most of the text in the article is only about the attack and sinking of the ship. Also the policy i was talking about is WP:SINGLEEVENT Abo Yemen 15:46, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I may be wrong, but that seems to be referring to biographies, not ship articles. Fritzmann (message me) 16:07, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
that policy is being used in the merge proposal of Maersk Hangzhou with Attacks on the MV Maersk Hangzhou. If you find it appropriate, you can start a move request Abo Yemen 16:18, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted the undiscussed move as that was clearly controversial. Schwede66 21:29, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Terrorist Attack

[edit]

Why can’t we just be honest about this incident and say what it is: it was a terrorist attack by a known terrorist organization who did it in support of another terrorist organization. All of these organizations have been recognized by international bodies as terrorist organizations. And the issue became a more serious environmental issue because the terrorist who did the attack wouldn’t let the vessel be towed unless support was given for another terrorist organization. That’s what happened. We want Wikipedia to be a neutral place. But facts should exist on Wikipedia. 65.216.227.119 (talk) 02:13, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Because although it is considered as a terrorist organisation by about 30 countries, 165 countries do not recognise them as a terrorist organisation. Also please consider reading WP:NPOV Abo Yemen 03:33, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Abo Yemen Follow WP:NPOV. Exactly. Omitting that this was a terrorist attack causes this to be non-neutral. It seems that maybe someone came to the talk page for this article to try to ensure that it continues to be non-neutral.
Exactly how much do we need to debate if somebody comes in and kills and rapes babies is a terrorist? 30 non-shithole countries branding an organization a terrorist organization is enough. 65.216.227.119 (talk) 09:29, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
