SAN DIEGO (May 01, 2008) Military Sealift Command (MSC) hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) departs San Diego Bay to begin a humanitarian mission to the Western Pacific and Southeast Asia. Pacific Partnership 2008 is designed to strengthen the goodwill developed during previous humanitarian civic assistance missions. Mercy is scheduled to visit the Republic of Philippines, Vietnam, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea and the Federated States of Micronesia.
