English: Rosh Hashana greeting card from, 1914 (about two months after the outbreak of w:World War I), depicting an Austrian and a German Jewish soldier (the Flags of Austria-Hungary and of the German Empire are visible in the background) wearing tallit and praying from siddurim. The text reads, “Sieg und Ruhm unsern Waffen” (German, meaning “Victory and glory [are] our weapons”), “Glückliches Neujahr” (German, meaning “Happy New Year”) and "LeShanah Tovah Tikatevu" (traditional Hebrew greeting for Rosh Hashanah, meaning "For a good year may you be inscribed [in the book of life]"
