For-profit online platforms based on the sharing concept have emerged in the tourism marketplace and their businesses continue to grow at a phenomenal rate. The success stories of Airbnb and Uber have catalysed a vibrant sharing economy discussion among scholars. However, because the sharing business model is still in its infancy, little research on consumer behaviour and experience has been conducted and thus further research is needed on this topic. Therefore, this study aims to identify the effect of the co-creation experience on the relationship between perceived value and consumers’ propensity to participate in peer-to-peer hospitality sharing platforms from a service-dominant logic perspective

In a variety of sectors, internet-facilitated platforms based on the peer to peer economy concept... more In a variety of sectors, internet-facilitated platforms based on the peer to peer economy concept have emerged that enable individuals to share their underutilized goods and resources and those new business platforms are often regarded as a threat to existing businesses operating in the respective sectors. Although abundant research on P2P accommodation rentals has been recently conducted, current literature on P2P accommodation sharing platforms has mainly focused on guests’ perspectives. In general, the number of Airbnb listings are positively correlated with the development index, the number of international tourist arrival, the nominal exchange rate and negatively with GDP per employed person. Airbnb is more popular in countries where the population is technologically savvy. Implications of the study and directions for future research are discussed
Demand forecast accuracy is critical for hotels to operate their properties efficiently and profi... more Demand forecast accuracy is critical for hotels to operate their properties efficiently and profitably. The COVID-19 pandemic is a massive challenge for hotel demand forecasting due to the relevance of historical data. Therefore, the aims of this study are twofold: to present an extension of the additive pickup method using time series and moving averages; and to test the model using the real reservation data of a hotel in Italy during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study shows that historical data are still useful for a SME hotel amid substantial demand uncertainty caused by COVID-19. Empirical results suggest that the proposed method performs better than the classical one, particularly for longer forecasting horizons and for periods when the hotel is not fully occupied.
