Pilot versus production

The Eurostat data are currently EBSI anchored in the pilot section of the EBSI blockchain. However, while they are being anchored in the EBSI pilot section, the datasets themselves are genuine, disseminated Eurostat data. The ‘unofficial pilot release’ value of the ‘status’ field of the metadata is thus to be understood to be referring to the piloting nature of the anchoring exercise – the datasets are genuine Eurostat datasets.

Evaluation

Before the decision is taken by Eurostat to proceed to anchor datasets in the EBSI production section, the pilot implementation will be evaluated. 

An important element of this evaluation will be the user experience: what do researchers and analysts think of the solution? It is therefore very important for you, as a researcher or analyst, to provide your feedback to the Eurostat blockchain piloting team, so that we know if the solution is useful to you, or if it could be useful to you with some modifications.

Roll-out in production

If the decision is taken by Eurostat to permanently roll out the blockchain anchoring solution, then all Eurostat blocks in the EBSI pilot section will be recuperated and re-injected into the permanent (‘production’) section of EBSI so that any analysts and researchers that have used ‘anchored’ Eurostat datasets can continue to rely on the anchoring also in the new environment.
