School of History, Classics and Archaeology
Browse by
The School of History, Classics and Archaeology was created in 2002 from the former departments (now Subject Areas) of History, Economic and Social History, Scottish History, Classics and Archaeology (joined 2007) along with the Centre for the Study of the Two World Wars and the Scottish Centre for Diaspora Studies.
The School has around 100 teaching and research staff, making it one of the largest units of its kind in the United Kingdom.
The School has a vibrant research culture. In History this reflects the approaches of both the Arts and the Social Sciences traditions, in Classics it covers the entire range of classical study, including classical archaeology, and in Archaeology it includes particular centres of strength in Mediterranean, Near Eastern, Prehistoric and Scottish Archaeology.
