The objective is to approach a Hounzin in a multidisciplinary way. It was collected in situ during a field mission in December 2022 within the Royal Palaces and brought back to the laboratory in order to carry out a complete analysis. The particularity of this ceramic is that it is adapted by means of a blood sacrifice from the immolation of several animals and is reusable.
This article aims to study a reusable terracotta ceramic, from a voodoo religious context in Benin. Typically, a religious ceramic is single-use and relates to only one deity during a specific religious cycle. The peculiarity of this charged terracotta element is that is I not used for a single vòdũn deity, but for several and undergoes cycles of purification between each ceremony.
Conclusion
This study aims to focus on a plant known as Gbokè. This plant of Yoruba origin has long been consumed by the Abomean population before the arrival of imported tobacco. Today only the "old" consume this plant in various ways (treat, encourage, relax, ...). The younger population prefers tobacco sold directly in cigarettes. Tobacco traditions are beginning to wither away.
ornamentation or even the method of firing terracotta ceramics. A country strongly rooted in voodoo,
these terracotta elements are inseparable from daily, commemorative and honorary religious rituals. The
objective of this preliminary study is to analyse how these terracotta ceramics are shaped through a
workshop whose majority of production focuses on sacred ceramics, but also to understand the
symbolism of the form and its use by replacing it in an animist religious context. Each form translates a
precise function and a sacred use which is to be replaced in religious sequences to understand the sacred
value of these objects.
The aim of this article is to see how a religion can influence the perception of a disease, its cause, its meaning or even the way to overcome it in voodoo people from Benin. In the voodoo religion, illness is a messenger announcing an event, signalling an offence or warning
of a more or less tragic event. Illness is a source of current or future imbalance. This approach influences the methods of care practiced in this West African society. This article follows an anthropology and sociology thesis on the ritual management of disease and death in voodoo society from Abomey heights in Benin. The results presented here are the result of a bibliographical and historical research, but also of several field missions to visit the population directly involved in our questioning and research.
The purpose of this article is to define a multidisciplinary methodology for an ethnological field survey in order to fill any gaps in collecting data, especially oral data and to ensure the good quality and accuracy of the information that is transmitted to us.

established in 1835. This museum hosted 3 skulls with severe craniofacial lesions initially tagged as aggressive forms of tinea capitis. The aim of this study was to investigate these specimens and discuss the initial diagnosis. Historical investigations were conducted
based on the biographic data from the tags of the 3 skulls and entries on the catalog of the museum. Age was determined using dentition and the patency of cranial base synchondroses. The computed tomography scans were performed using standard medical devices. The 3 skulls were from the late 18th to early 19th century. Skull 1 was a 5-year-old child and presented with microcephaly and extensive vault osteolysis compatible with an
aggressive benign lesion, a malignant tumor, or a chronic infection.
Skull 2 was a 12- to 18-year-old teenager and presented with symmetrical porotic hyperostosis compatible with undernutrition and various hematologic conditions causing prolonged anemia, but also with chronic inflammation and/or infection. Skull 3 was also from a 12- to 18-year-old teenager and presented with focal temporal osteolysis compatible with an aggressive benign or a
low-grade malignant temporal soft-tissue lesion or with chronic infection. These skulls contribute to the understanding of theconcept of tinea in the 19th century. They are furthermore windows on the sanitary and social conditions in Paris in the years following the French revolution and during the Napoleonian wars.
the interpretation of the sacrificial patina on the surface. This patina is discreet but
it transmits a message, its composition, its color can be interpreted and attached
to a social group, an identity. With her, we can decode the history, the function the
devotion given to the « fetishes» which are the material incarnation of the divinities,
even their habitat on Earth. At first glance, nothing is understandable and yet everything
is there.
