Yi Yang
My research interests are at the intersection of cognition and emotion. Integrating developmental, cognitive, and sociocultural perspectives, my research examines the mechanisms underlying memory and memory falsification. I am particularly interested in how emotion and self influence true and false memories. Some of my projects, using words and pictures, examine the effects of emotion on semantic false memory, orthoghraphic false memory, pictorial false memory, and suggestibility. Some examine the effects of self and positive feedback, respectively, on positive bias in autobiogrpahical memory. My research also explores developmental trajectory, cultural differences, and clinical population vs. highly functioning population comparisons in understanding false memory, emotion, and self.
