Description
Español: Escudo de armas del municipio de Tunja, Boyacá (Colombia), concedido por el rey Carlos V el 29 de marzo de 1541:[1] 2
Escudo heráldico de forma hispano-francesa cuartelado en cruz y escudete triangulado de punta. El primero y último cuartel sobre campo de plata, un león rampante en gules lampasado de lo mismo y coronado. El segundo y tercer cuartel sobre campo de gules, torres almenadas de color piedra. Escudete de punta sobre campo de plata; granada rajada en gules y hojada sínople, símbolo de unidad religiosa y territorial de España a partir de los Reyes Católicos y además personifica el Nuevo Reino de Granada. Como timbre y enmarcando el escudo águila esployada en sable. Pendiendo de las alas el "Toisón de Oro", divisa del Ducado de Borgoña, instituido por Carlos I de España y V de Alemania, cuyo collar lo conforman eslabones en oro y pedernales expidiendo llamas, del cual pende el vellón de un carnero. Como cimera corona real.
