Aims and Scope

We are pleased to invite submissions to the 1st TSE Human Capital Conference, organized by the TSE Human Capital Center with the support of Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). The conference will take place on June 22 and 23, 2026 at the Toulouse School of Economics.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers working on policy-relevant issues around the determinants and consequences of investments in human capital, broadly defined. Topics include—but are not limited to—school market design, school/college choice, active labour market policies, the role of subjective expectations and learning, AI and the labour market, spatial inequalities in education outcomes, the selection and retention of qualified teachers, household welfare and inequality over the life-cycle, gender inequalities in education choices and career progression.

Two keynote lectures will be given by Parag Pathak (MIT) and Petra Todd (University of Pennsylvania).

The program will feature contributed sessions with around 15 papers in total (no parallel sessions). In addition, the conference will include a roundtable with practitioners to discuss pressing issues on human capital policy.
