This study aims to examine the potential use of leubiem fish (Chanthidermis maculatus) waste and ... more This study aims to examine the potential use of leubiem fish (Chanthidermis maculatus) waste and phytogenic supplementation on ration, in order to increase the performance of local ducks in the starter phase. This study used 100 local ducks aged 1 week old, and maintained them until 8 weeks old. The ducks were placed in 5 treatments and 4 replications groups (5 ducks / repetition). The study was conducted experimentally, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of 5 ration treatments, including: R1 (control); R2 (basal ration containing leubiem fish skin flour 10% + phytogenic 0.5%); R3 (basal ration containing leubiem fish head flour 10% + phytogenic 0.5%); R4 (basal ration containing leubiem fish bone flour 10% + phytogenic 0.5%) and R5 (basal ration containing leubiem fish gill flour + phytogenic 0.5%). Observed variables were feed consumption, body weight gain, final weight, feed conversion, and local duck mortality in the starter phase. The data obtained were both analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan’s multiple range test. The results showed that the use of leubiem fish waste and phytogenic supplementation in the ration both increased the performance of local ducks in the starter phase and had a significant effect (p <0.05) on ration consumption, weight gain, and final weight. However, they had no significant effect on feed conversion and local duck mortality in the starter phase. It was concluded that the use of leubiem fish (10% bone meal) and phytogenic supplementation 0.5% in the ration was able to increase body weight gain, and the final weight of the starter phase local ducks (aged 1-8 weeks).

This study aims to examine the potential of ciplukan and patchouli oil refining waste as alternat... more This study aims to examine the potential of ciplukan and patchouli oil refining waste as alternative sources of phytogenic feed additive to replace the Antibiotic Growth Promotor (AGP) in livestock. The research was carried out by using the method of extraction and identification of phytogenic components of ciplukan and patchouli waste as well as in vitro for antibacterial and antioxidant tests of ciplukan leaf extract and patchouli waste. The variables observed were percentage yield, nutritional content, phytochemicals, phytogenic compounds, antibacterial inhibition and antioxidant content of ciplukan leaf extract and patchouli waste. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and tabulated according to the research variables. The results showed that the extraction using 96% ethanol solvent produced different yields, the highest yield was found in ciplukan, namely 9.75% and patchouli waste of 1.02% by weight of fresh ingredients. The nutritional content of ciplukan and patchouli waste respectively contains crude protein 27.79 and 14.19%, crude fiber 7.08 and 17.09%, fat 3.43 and 3.85%, BETN 27.46 and 40.87%, and the antioxidant content tends to be higher in ciplukan, namely 75.70% and 73.53% patchouli waste. Based on the results of the phytochemical test, patchouli waste extract contains bioactive substances in the form of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, tannins, saponins, steroids and terpenoids as well as essential oils, while the ciplukan extract does not contain terpenoids and essential oils. The results of the antibacterial test showed that patchouli waste extract had the largest inhibition zone against Escherichia coli and Salmonella bacteria compared to the ciplukan extract with an average diameter of 12.50 and 8.50 mm. Conclusion patchouli waste extract has the potential to be used as an alternative source of phytogenic feed additive because it contains phytogenic bioactive substances and can act as antibacterial.

The study was conducted experimentally using 96 Peking ducks, within an age range of about 1 to 8 weeks, and a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), which consisted of four treatment rations and four replications. The treatment rations used in this research included treatment R0, which was the basal diet, serving as the control ration, and also treatment R1, R2, and R3, which consisted of 10% concentration of leubiem fish skin, head, and bone, respectively, as well as 1% of a probiotic agent. The observed variables included the rate of feed consumption, body weight gain, final body weight, feed conversion ratio, and mortality were then analysed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the use of leubiem fish components and probiotic agents in rations at 10% and 1%, respectively, had a significant effect (p<0.05) on the rate of feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio and final body weight. However, there was no significant effect on the mortality of Peking ducks. Therefore, this study concluded that the use of rations containing leubiem fishbone and probiotic agents at 10% and 1%, respectively, were able to accelerate the growth performance of Peking ducks.

As many as 100 DOC of broiler chicken strain CP 707 were reared for up to 5 weeks to feed experimental diets. A Block Randomized Design (BRD) with subsamples consisted of 4 treatments, 5 blocks, and 2 subsamples were applied in the recent study. The results of studies indicated that removing parts of the CD diet to substitute with the mixture of FMOL + YC caused a significant effect (P0.05) in declining the weights of the whole carcass and the cut-ups but in percentage no significant differences. Pengolahan bahan baku pakan yang tersedia di lingkungan sekitar menjadi pakan yang berkualitas menjadi salah satu cara untuk menekan biaya tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memanfaatkan sumber daya bahan baku pakan lokal dengan menggunakan proses fermentasi anaerob. Ransum disusun berdasarkan nutrisi kebutuhan itik pedaging dengan protein kasar 19% dan energi metabolis 3.100 kkal/kg. Ransum dicampur bakteri asam laktat (BAL) 105 cfu/gram sampai kandungan air 45%, dimasukkan ke dalam wadah penyimpanan yang kedap udara (silo), dipadatkan dan ditutup rapat. Pengolahan bahan baku pakan yang tersedia di lingkungan sekitar menjadi pakan yang berkualitas menjadi salah satu cara untuk menekan biaya tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memanfaatkan sumber daya bahan baku pakan lokal dengan menggunakan proses fermentasi anaerob. Ransum disusun berdasarkan nutrisi kebutuhan itik pedaging dengan protein kasar 19% dan energi metabolis 3.100 kkal/kg. Ransum dicampur bakteri asam laktat (BAL) 105 cfu/gram sampai kandungan air 45%, dimasukkan ke dalam wadah penyimpanan yang kedap udara (silo), dipadatkan dan ditutup rapat. Penelitian ini menggunakan DOD itik peking sebanyak 60 ekor sebagai materi dan penelitian di desain dengan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan pakan fermentasi yang disubstitusikan pada pakan komersial. Perlakuan pakan yaitu; kontrol=KO (0% pakan fermentasi), K1 (10% pakan fermentasi), K2 (20% pakan fermentasi) dan K3 (30% pakan fermentasi). Research conducted since 2010 to October 2012 with a focus on increasing the ability to grow the Indigofera’s seed under soaking treatment in auxin hormone and testing the nutritional value on quail and chicken. The first study related to the viability testing is done by soaking the seed of Indigofera in auxin hormone before planting in the field.
